About This Item

Maleficent “Mistress of All Evil” is based on the evil fairy godmother of Aurora in Charles Perrault’s fairy tale. She is the villainess who lures Aurora to prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and cures her to die before her 16th birthday unless true love finds her. She was dark sinister and ruthless in achieving her goals. She first appeared in Disney’s Sleeping Beauty in 1959.  In the 2014 Disney adaptation, Maleficent is just misunderstood, sympathetic, good at heart, and not wicked at all. She finds redemption and a bond with Aurora.
