Goodbye Labyrinth of Worlds, it’s finally time I let you go. Australia is not very kind to Travel Bugs and I’ve found it best to target other cachers. I might have found you an excellent new helper at this event in Melbourne Central, a shopping centre in, surprise, the centre of Melbourne. The centre of the centre is the 50m high Coop's Shot Tower dating from 1889. The historic building was saved from demolition in 1973 and was incorporated into Melbourne Central complex in 1991 underneath an 84 m-high conical glass roof. Good luck with your new adventures! 🍻

Exciting day for me. 1) I bought a house in Princes Hill, and 2) you took the train to the eastern suburb of Ashburton and bought a kayak with me. “Geocaching is free”, said everybody. Hilarious. So that’s another TOTT to add to the collection. The kayak didn’t come with life jackets so add them to the bill too. In 2021, Ashburton residents were found to have the longest lifespan of any residents in Victoria. Maybe I should have bought there? 🛶

Exciting day as my container of belongings has finally arrived in Melbourne after a long delay in Singapore. Still has to clear customs and quarantine though and I don’t have a house to put it in. I put in an offer on a house so fingers crossed.
I needed a multi today so I took you to the bayside suburb of Williamstown. The cities of Melbourne and Geelong are both situated on Port Phillip Bay and Williamstown served as Port Phillip's first anchorage site and continued as the centre for port facilities until the late 19th century. In the 1830s, the then township of Williamstown was initially considered along with the sites that became known as Geelong and Melbourne for the capital of the new colony at Port Phillip. Although Williamstown offered excellent proximity to anchorage, Melbourne was ultimately chosen due to its abundance of fresh water from the Yarra River.🚰

More house hunting in the morning. Looked at two houses in inner city Princes Hill, close to the University of Melbourne and lovely Princes Park. Really like one of them. Then it was onto the train to the geocaching Christmas Dinner with the Geelong Geocachers in Lara. Lara is a growing residential town known for its country feel, proximity to Avalon Airport, and convenient location between Melbourne and Geelong. Several scenes from the 1979 feature film, Mad Max, were shot on location around Lara, as well as several scenes from the ABC mockumentary, “We Can Be Heroes: Finding The Australian of the Year”, in which the town carried the fictional name "Dunt". 🎅🏻
