When the day turns to night, leave Texas land right! This coin's mission is to travel from cache to cache with a reminder to practice responsible and respectful recreation, not only during an eclipse, but any time.
Remember:
- To avoid sparking a wildfire, don’t park on dry grass, secure tow chains so they don’t drag, and ensure tires are properly inflated to avoid a potential blowout.
- Don’t leave your campfire hot! If it is too hot to touch, it is too hot to leave.
- Burn it where you buy it…use local firewood to avoid spreading invasive pests.
- Tread lightly and leave no trace.
This geocoin was released by Texas A&M Forest Service to commemorate two eclipses crisscrossing the heart of Texas in the span of 6 months: an annular solar eclipse, sometimes called a ‘ring of fire’, on October 14, 2023, and a total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. On one side is the Texas Two-Step Solar Eclipse logo and on the other is the Texas A&M Forest Service logo.
