Finding Dad

My dad and I only started our geocaching journey this year (Jan '24) and I really enjoyed the time we spent together searching and solving whilst I visited him.

We live a few hours apart, (him in Somerset and me in Devon) and so my hope for this geocoin is to make its way as close to the Yeovil area as it can!

Perhaps he will stumble across it one day and be amazed by its journey and by the kindness of strangers indulging in a fun hobby shared between father and daughter (and so many more out there in the world!)

I chose this geocoin because my dad loves the spring. He loves spending time out in the garden and the outdoors and I wouldn't be surprised if he secretly had a green thumb. He loves seeing the daffodils bloom and the new foliage on the trees and all the new blooms of flowers in the garden.

The spring equinox is the time when the night and day are equal in length and officially the first day of spring. That means that the days that follow will slowly be longer and we'll have more sunshine than we have nighttime. These days are my dads favourite. We'll be lucky to see him inside! He'll garden until the sun starts to set, and then he'll enjoy the evening sun and listen to the birds and tell me how much he loves when the weather is warm and the sun sets just so but it's still 8pm and light out. And he'll do it all again the next day. The spring makes me think of dad. Hopefully it'll make you think of the spring and all the beautiful sights that come along with it too.

This is a little Happy Birthday present to dad, combining the love of spring, the beautiful outdoors, and the enjoyment of hunting for geocaches, whilst also telling him I think he's pretty cool and I love him.
