My mission is to pick up as many rubber arm bands as possible in a year or so and eventually make it back to my owner. There are arm bands everywhere now. Some have a special meaning; For example, the arm band I placed is in support of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) aka Lou Gehrig's disease. Some bands are more light-hearted and say "Myrtle Beach" or the like. Please add one if you can and give a description in your TB entry long. Please do not remove any bands. Thank you!
The arm band I am placing first is "Strike Out ALS". One of my dear friends passed away August 31, 2004 from this disease. It was a long tough struggle. He gradually became paralyzed and eventually unable to speak or breathe for himself. All this time, his brain was completely healthy and unaffected by the disease. What a cruel disease! I am raising money and hopefully awareness in support of the ALS Association.
The second armband is one my kids chose, "Building Character like Jesus". It was the theme from our church's Bible school this year.
