We have discovered this very important coin through communication with the very exalted one himself, Santa,,,,,,,,,The Most Revered One, KillerB,,,,,,,,,and one of the great cachers of our Eastern hunting grounds, Blue_Stone. We understand the meaning of this sacred coin and have passed on our memories and wishes for the Hive through another channel. We miss you all. See you soon.

Well, of all days for me to sleep in till 11:30AM, (didnt get to bed till 6AM), I had breakfast while checking for new caches & such on the computer. Then, i was just about to make one of my usual morning calls to Paleoman, to discuss this & that, when I was told someone else needed to make a quick call...

So as I was waiting, I thought maybe I ought to check my email, which I usually only do about once a week. It was a very good thing I did, as I had just received a mysterious email from JasperJoe a half-hour before. Contained in the email were coords that looked EXTREMELY familiar...
"Hmmm... this west coord is exactly where my front porch step lies.... And this north coord is only about 150ft from said porch step..." Well, I immediately knew something was hidden right behind my house at the head of the Greenway trail. On the way up the head of the trail, sure enough there were some huge boot tracks...Then, an ammo can tucked under (what was left) of a bush. Hmm...I started searching the skies for the black helicopters to appear, (or at least a large white van), but hence I made my way back to the house with can in hand, managing to avoid the spy sattelites (I had luckily remembered to don my tin-foil pirate hat before heading out.)

Any way, after opening up the can and realising what was inside, and trying to decide how to go about getting this to one of the very few names left on the list, I had to wonder if 2 of the names were even aware of the cache. Well, one thing led to another, and i managed to have a nice phone conversation with a cacher I really look up to, and unfortunately one that I had hadnt seen much of this past year. During the conversation, i asked if they could get ahold of one of the other cachers on the list, and ask them if they wanted to contribute also.

Ok, 2 names off the list there... But I still had to figure out how i could get this to a more local-to-me-cacher....Time seemed to be running out to meet the deadline of the cache, so another call was made to another fellow cacher I have not seen enough of lately, to get a phone number for yet another cacher I knew from when i first started caching back in 2002, but had only actually met once... LOL

After a second great phone conversation, i was given coords to a certain "market/deli" in a nearby town where said cacher was due to possibly eat lunch at every day. So, the next morning i woke, added my Memory and Wish, and off I went to the coords. Sure enough, I see a bear of a cacher come in the door and we got to meet for the 2nd time in over 7 yrs. As lunch was winding down, another caching great comes strolling in and up to our table. Its always great seeing THIS guy, whom i only get to see once a year at the Fall Gathering...
Well, if that wasnt enough, another gentleman comes strolling in and up to our table, and it turns out it was yet ANOTHER up & coming area cacher, who i had only met once or twice previously...How great is THIS?

Well, unfortunately the time came where we all had to go our seperate ways... Hopefully not to have to wait another year or more to see each other.

So Thank You, Santa, for giving me the opportunity to speak with an old friend, and to spend lunch with some great people today as well.

PS- Thanx for taking care of the chili for me, "Bear". 🙂

Received a nice note from Ez1 about some coordinates I may want to check out. I was vacationing this week, so I headed out on this brisk single digit day to a very familiar area. This is such a great idea! It took me a while to read through everyone's favorites and wishes. It warms my heart to be included in the Hive. I soon added a list of my favorites and some wishes for the new year, packed the can back up and delivered it to a nice spot on the Greenway. Seemed fitting as this guy has a front yard cache, back yard cache and now (almost) porch cache. A very happy, healthly, prosperous and cache filled New Year to all. Thanks Santa.

EZRider76 and I received word last night about this cache. Although, I'm on vacation for the week, I was wondering how EZRider76 was going to make time so we could go after this cache. This morning, EZRider76 sent me an e-mail basically stating we'll go looking for it after his appointment today; so, I gave him a call.........what time's the appointment? He was home by noon, and we both were out the door by 12:30. The coords we were given took us to a familiar area, and was easy enough to find. I'm so glad Santa included us in this cache. I enjoyed reading everyone's notes on their favorite memory and wish for 2010. Finding this cache has re-lit the fire under my bum to get me out there caching again. I hope everyone....geocacher and muggle alike......has a great holiday season, and a happy, healthy, and festive New Year. Best wishes to everyone, good luck, and happy caching. See you all out on the trails. Wee HOOOOOO!!!! 😛

What a surprise! Since the beginning of the hunting seasons, we had laid our GPS to rest for some much deserved hibernation after 417 caches in just 8 months. Well, being Christmas, we thought about wakening the poor fella for another journey, so this was pleasant to be included in this mystery cache. Last night, as I tried mastery the downhill ski jump on our new Wii Fitness Plus (Easygoer226 currently has me beat by a wopping 23 feet) and then a little Wii Fitness Golf Practice, she started distracting me with, "Did you check your e-mail? I think we might want to head to breakfast at Brian's on Sunday. Did you know about this?" Okay, concentration ruined as I thought something sad had happened, I might as well give up and check my e-mail. Interesting, now, how can I play hookey from work tomorrow.....yup, some of us have to work through the holidays. Well, with a good plan in mind, I hatched it as soon as I got to work and by 11am I was outta there. Home to pick up Easygoer226 and away we went to our coordinate location, in a very nice location. The snow had moved in a bit, but nothing that would deter a fella with 4WD and a seat belt....come to find out, we didn't even need the seat belt...LOL...or the 4WD. Like usual though, we never find a cache without a stick in the eye and a slip here and a slide there. No problem though, we took the cache back to the truck, added our memories and a wish or two and moved it for the next cacher......probably the busiest worker bee of them all, hopefully he can find a coffee break to do a little caching. 😁 See you all Sunday.

Breakfast talk last week had alerted us that this cache was making its rounds. Those at the table didn't realize it hadn't traveled our way yet. Yesterday Sam and I got an email from Taz with coordinates in it. We took off to find it, and had no trouble, once I switched from our Nature Calls coords to the coords we had been given! We enjoyed reading through all the notes. When I read the instructions, i thought I was supposed to write about a favorite holiday memory, so I wrote about both a Christmas memory and a caching memory.

Thank you Santa for getting this started. Can't wait until next week to see who is behind this, although I have a couple of good ideas!

discovered this in an ammo can that was part of a bee hive christmas mystery cache. wimpy cacher gave me an envelope this morning with the coords in it and I preceeded after the breakfast to go to it and then move it along to the next location. can not count on the miles it will cover but it was fun playing the game.

After spending a long day caching in Auburn with the family we came home to find a lonely ammo can sitting on our sidewalk. I have no idea who dropped it off but was pleasantly surprised to see what was inside. What a cool idea. I read through all the memories and wishes and then it aside for the night. Things got kind of hectic over the next few days with Christmas upon us and I didn't get a chance to do anything with it until the following weekend. I was planning to head to the Batavia area to do some caching and there were a couple of cachers in that area that hadn't seen this yet. I added my memory and wish and set off for Batavia. I know of a park there that holds a cache from Sam and Nan so as I was making my way around Batavia I stopped off at the park and found a good hiding place for the ammo can and sent the coords off to Nan. I have no idea who Santa is, but will be at breakfast to greet the ammo can's arrival at Brian's. I look forward to seeing everyone at the hive.
