This travel bug maintains a scrapbook with images of quilts. So if you have a quilt at home or you know somebody who does, please take a picture of the quilt and upload it to your log entry.
Sometime in the next few months or so, my wife will pick her favorite quilt - the cacher who submitted it will win a geocaching quilt!!
From Wikipedia:
"A quilt is a type of bedding— a bed covering composed of a quilt top, a layer of batting, and a layer of fabric for backing, generally combined using the technique of quilting. Another technique for creating a quilt is tying. This method is easier and more forgiving if the quilt is made by hand. A tied quilt is called a hap. Many quilts are made with decorative designs; indeed, some quilts are not used as bed covering at all, but are rather made to be hung on a wall or otherwise displayed."

What a great idea....my wife loved the idea and wanted to submit this quilt picture for your enjoyment and if you have not given the quilt away to enter your contest. This quilt was made in 1867 by a group high school level students (each block done by a seperate student) at the Springdale Academy near the town of Relfe MO. This school burned down in the late 1800 and was never rebuilt. This quilt may be the only remnant of the school that still exists. The quilt is done as a "Baltimore Parade" and contains both quilting and applique blocks. Each block contains either the name or the initials of the student who did it and the central block contains the date and school name. If you look closely you will see that Civil War sentiments still ran high as one block contained crossed confederate battle flags. Hope you enjoy the pictures and if you would like more information contact me through geocaching.com and I will give you my and my wife's contact information.
