The Greg Smith Geocaching Community Service Award is presented annually by the Northeast Florida Geocachers Association to recognize outstanding service to the geocaching community.

About This Item

The Award is named for Greg Smith, more commonly known in the geocaching community as The Federation. Greg has been a pioneer in the formation of a fun, friendly and active geocaching community in Northeast Florida.

He helped begin the NEFGA tradition of inviting new cachers to go caching. He organized many of the first caching campouts and hosted many of the first Events in the area. Greg was NEFGA's first elected President, was one of those who helped start FGA's websight and was intramental in NEFGA's sponsorship of Geowoodstock 3. He has also served the community as a volunteer reviewer for geocaching.com.

In honor of these, as well as many other contributions, this annual award is named after Greg and is presented to him as it's first recipient.
