I received this trackable from a volunteer reviewer reViewmaster at meeting Creation Celebration: Porvoo GeoTour 2 vuotta!
The meeting was held next to an old restaurant ship Glückauf. I visited it few times some 30 years ago, while it was parked at the Porvoo river bank. My friend was studying at Porvoo and Glückauf was popular destination for students during the autumn and spring. It was closed during winter.
The ship has been built in 1898 at Bremerhaven, Germany. After active service, it was converted to a restaurant in 1987 and parked at Porvoo. Later on in 1994 it was moved to Helsinki, to the Hakaniementori sea bank. We visited it a couple of times there as well. The owners were apparently more interested about the restaurant business and not keeping the vessel seaworthy. Apparently the restaurant business was not their forte either, hence the ship almost sunk while at Hakaniemi and was eventually sold in a foreclosure auction. The new owners transferred Glückauf back to Porvoo in 1996, where it has been in active restaurant use since.
Later on, the ship partially sunk to the Porvoo river in 2010. Latest news about the ship is another update in the ownership.
