Current GOAL

To allow remote cachers to log a virtual find on the Puzzle Solving 101 Series Final Exam.

About This Item

This TB is not physically contained in the Puzzle Solving 101 Series Final Exam cache. If you actually do find the Final Exam, you don't need to log a find on this TB. But if you are solving this series of puzzles remotely, this TB is for you.

The only way to obtain the tracking number for this TB is to solve all nine of the puzzles in the PS101 Series, and the first six puzzles of the PS101 Final Exam. On the final puzzle page, there will be a verification question for your solution to the 9 puzzles in the series. Enter your verification information, and you'll receive the tracking number for this TB.

To record your accomplishment, log a Discovered note on this TB. Only log Notes and Discovered entries for this TB. Do not remove this TB from the PS101 Final Exam cache! Other types of entries will be deleted without warning.

Congratulations to all who have completed the series! And good luck to those who haven't ... yet ;-)

Planning to make a second caching day-trip to Charlotte, was not able to get to all of my target caches the first time. Searched for some more to (over)fill the day, stumbled upon GC1MH0T, and the quest began. Two days later, while ostensibly working much of the time, a non-gibberish result to the final presidents question began to reveal itself. Getting through this (almost) makes me feel that I can remove some of the many Question Marks taunting me from my 'not found' map.

I learned of this series from a cacher in Ohio, and so set to work on completing this series. I love working on puzzles, and this was an excellent series covering a wide variety of puzzle styles. I started with #10, and got stuck most of the way through. After coming back to it a bit later, I completed the last few steps until I needed the information from steps 1-9. From there, I worked back in chronological order, finishing the last 3 this week. Thank you for a fantastic series!

I re-discovered the PS101 series a couple weeks ago. Turns out back in 2012 I had made it to Lesson 5, got stuck, then forgot about it. But after recently completing the Geodyssey, my travels led me back here and the time seemed right to try and finally pass the final exam.

Unfortunately, those four years' time did not really clear up my thinking because I still remained stuck on Lesson 5 after mulling it over the holiday break. I suspected I might be over-thinking things, so sent my thoughts to the CO. He confirmed half of my thought process was correct and that I should probably do a little more digging. Soon enough, I had too-good-to-be-true information which quickly led to the solution. Lesson 6 was a nice exercise in patience. It sat open on my desktop for a couple days until I finally made the connection. Loved the description and the Happy Fun Ball-like disclaimers. What a nice series! And I'm excited that moving forward I am all signed up to receive any future puzzlehead news.

I will be in South Florida next month and plan to find some ePeterso2 caches. Don't think I'll have enough time to physically visit the PS101 final, but who knows... Thanks again for the fun puzzles!

It took us 5 days but we did it. After having celebrated the new year properly, we tackled the presidents. The last step was a formality as our homework had already been done for the nine other caches. A great log to begin the geocaching year with. Thanks a lot for this series, we really enjoyed. We hope to be able to physically log the caches. Happy new year

Thank you for the puzzle series. Solved it remotely with some help on lateral thinking. This experience has been invaluable to me. Wish I could sometime visit Florida.

Got stuck on the last puzzle of the Final Exam - those darn Presidents - thanks to a couple nudges from the CO (Thanks!!) I finally got it - then EXCEL would not even help me with the totalling - until I followed the instructions and then it worked - amazing...

Great set of caches - I love puzzles - and this was a great series - I appreciate the time and effort it took to get it created and to keep it rolling.

This took just under a week for me to solve.
1 - First puzzle took a while to solve. I had to cheat and use anagram solver to get the answer as I couldn't get 2 letters (which I eventually got knowing the placement of the extra letter.
2 - Spreadsheet made this one a breeze.
3 - Took a while, but once again a spreadsheet and being able to undo my steps helped a lot.
4 - Total confusion on this one, lots of research. But eventually got there. Guessing it would be easier for the remote cachers in the USA to solve.
5 - ahh yeah, was lazy, used software to help crack this one.
6 - had lots of ideas, none worked. Showed Winniethebear, she was able to give me an extra hint which I overcomplicated. Punched in the "easier" solution before asking for more hints which worked.
7 - Used a spreadsheet for this, still got the answer wrong multiple of times as I took it as just using parts of each number.
    Thanks for the cache/series/TB

Well we got through the series and enjoyed it thoroughly. We did pretty well on many of the puzzles but had some trouble on #6 of the final - we tried many variations and had many ideas about how to get something that made sense - had to get some nudges for this one so that we could finally get it. This was a great series with a lot of variety and demonstrated many different puzzle types. Thanks for all the hard work that went into solving this one. Maybe we will get to FL to make the finds and get the actual caches. Thanks!!!

    WooHoo!

We join the ranks of Virtual Solvers! We enjoyed the puzzle solving series - but banged our head quite frequent on the blasted final exam! And then after hours of analyzing random stuff, a BFoI (blinding flash of insight) would occur and we would get the next answer. Step 6 was a head-scratcher - although we did have the right thought, we went down many MANY wrong avenues before coming back to our first instinct and trying to find an answer to go with it.

Maybe someday we'll get to Florida and give the real containers a spin.
