Travel to Guernsey (one of the Brittish channel islands 80 km from the west coast of France.)
Peter Pawn and Penny Pion are very bored. For years they have been looking at each other standing on the chess board. Occasionally two humans sit down at both sides of the board and move the pieces around.. and that’s it.
Life as a pawn is boring... isn’t it?
Peter and Penny decided that is was time for a big change. They wanted to travel. They heard the humans speak about a chess tournament in Guernsey. That would be FUN.. Lots and lots of potentially new (pawn) friends. Every day new humans will sit at the board, and play with you..
The next tournament will be in October 2018. It would be nice to be on the island before the tournament starts.
Penny thinks the fastest way to go to Guernsey is via Paris, St Malo, and the channel islands Ferry. Peter thinks travelling to London, and taking the plane is much faster. But... in the end.. the destination is much more important than the route that takes you there.
They don’t seem to agree about the fastest route. So Peter and Penny decide to start a contest.. and see for themselves who arrives on the island first.
