This travel bug is to be taken only by cachers who will pick up litter on the way out. It can be left in any cache.
There are two items attached to this travel bug.
A wrist band I found while picking up trash in a rest area and a film container with a bag in it for picking up litter.
I’m not an anti-litter nut, I just hate litter.
I’ve been picking up trash in one rest area for some years now, I’ve been doing it more regularly since I’ve been mowing the grass and have done other work there.
One day I found a Unite For Diabetes wrist band, a very good cause, but it had turned into a piece of litter.
When we’re geocaching I often pick up a piece of trash thinking it’s the cache.
If I put it back, I’m littering.
Everything I’ve read about Cache In Trash Out tells me I’m not the only one that feels that way.
I carry a litter bag.
Placing my first cache, leaving it out in the woods, it felt a little like littering.
If one of my caches were to be destroyed by an animal the container, log book, even travel bugs would become litter.
But even if that happens I’ve taken more trash out to the woods than I’ve put there.
