Current Goal

I would like these little guys to visit all of the places I can't, especially Africa!! Take these two little Zebras back home after they've traveled the world.
A few places I would really like to see these Zebras travel before they go home:

  • California
  • Alaska
  • Colorado
  • The Bahamas
  • Australia
Once in Africa I would like to see them travel to as many caches there as possible. It's a huge goal, but I think it can happen! Take lots of pictures!

________________________________IMPORTANT UPDATE_______________________________________

This travel bug has an incredibly long story over hundreds of unmarked miles.

I thought this bug was lost for good. The posts of other cachers lead me to believe that this one had bit the dust before its journey had even begun (much like another one of my bugs has done since). I was very upset for my first bug to meet it's maker this way.

I went down to the cache, Waterworks, in Hannibal, Missouri to find that it was, indeed, missing. Scrolling through the logs I found that soemone had written "taken zebra tb". I wrote down the cachers ID and went on the search. I searched the name in the database a few times before coming across the right person.

It had been months since the TB was placed and with the cacher only having found a few caches logged I was certain that they probably did not cache much and maybe didn't even have an accurate email. I tried anyways and to my surprise I got a quick response about my bug.

The cacher was in AFRICA! Could it be that my bug made it to its destination on the first log? I wasn't sure. The caregiver of my little TB was in the states, but the cacher was in Africa. She had no idea that the TB's purpose was to reach the exact location she was in. Her daughter had found the TB and taken it because she loves Zebras (who doesn't). She made a scrambling effort to get the TB over to Africa so it could complete its journey to a cache, but the stars were not aligned in this situation.

The cacher returned home from her trip without being able to get the TB in a cache. This was not at all upsetting to me. I was thrilled to know she had even made an attempt to get it there (she had much bigger more important tasks while on her trip). BUT...she said a few months later (October-ish) her friend would be going to Africa and would be glad to take my bug along for the ride. The friend was not a cacher, so it would not reach a cache, but she would be able to take pictures. AWESOME!

Now, it is November, a little over a year after placing my first bug, and it is back in my hands. My fellow cacher was nice enough to mail the bug back to me (I'm now in Auburn, Alabama). So, now I plan on placing the bug in a cache down here and uploading some pictures a bit later.

Geocaching is such a wonderful thing!

THANKS JEANIE!
