Current Goal

I would like to visit Coal Mining states and caches near coal mines.  If you are visting / placing near a coal mine please log which one.  Coal Keeps The Lights On!

About This Item

Simple laminated card proxy of a geocoin featuring a coal miner and an ATV.  In many coal mining areas, especially Appalachia, finding usable flat land is extremely difficult.  Reclaimed mining areas offers usable land for building, recreation, and trails.  Hazard, located in Perry County, Kentucky, is one such place.  Thanks to mining lands were made available to build schools, businesses, and many recrational trail areas.  The reintroduction of elk in the state a occured on former mining lands.  Reclaimed mining lands open to recreational activites creates ideal geocaching environents.

07/21/18 — the original proxy was an experimental coin creation that I suspect came apart.  Rereleasing to get this one moving again after several years of inactivity.  If you happen to locate the original proxy coin please email bmzdaddy@gmail.com.
