Current Goal

To bring rail travel to as many places as possible that don't have passenger service today.

About This Item

The Yellow Locomotive

Most cities in the US and Canada do not have regular rail passenger service. AMTRAK and VIArail can't go every place. This TB will bring a train to your location even if for just a few days. This one of a fleet of five locomotives that are looking for new places to visit. Which one will visit the most new places? Which one will go the furthest? Don't let Congress kill rail travel!

Oct 13, 2005--Timetable update: Well, on the day that it was announced that the Northeast Corridor may be broken away from Amtrak proper, I now put an out of commission sign on the first of the five locomotives--Green. Orange hasn't moved in a while, red is in someone's possession for over six months, yellow and blue are still chugging away.

Found this at a Geocache site (now defunct) in Port Aransas, TX. Brought it home with us with the intent of placing it in a Geocache in our hometown of Frisco, TX, but misplaced it somewhere in our home. Found it years later, and kept it in my desk drawer, always intending to go back out and place it. After two house moves and 17 years later, I have finally decided to take it with me next week to Seattle and place it back into the Geocache circuit. My kids, who were with 8, 6, and 2 when we found this cute little locomotive are now all adults (25,23, and 19). Glad to finally honor this little traveling toy.

Yellow is in Port Aransas Texas, no train tracks here on the island. There were tracks along the causeway but only trestle ruins remain.
