Current Goal

I'm releasing him in San Diego and his goal is to find his way back to Virginia (cache GCQGJY). He likes to travel slowly, though, and take in the scenery, so he has one rule: he can't fly. Cars, buses, trains, horses, and of course hiking are great ways to move him around; but no planes.

About This Item

The Wayfarer's Companion

This was my first pipe, given to me in college. He has accompanied me on many a fine hike and on many enjoyable camping trips. I really relish a few puffs on a pipe when standing atop a peak gazing out over the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. It's a peaceful way to relax into my own thoughts.

Trusty companion though he is, he hasn't seen much use lately. I'm letting him go walkabout on his own. He can meet new people, see new sights, and travel far and wide.

Included in his pouch are some pipe filters, but no tobacco. Feel free to pick up some tobacco and light him up to enjoy his company on your own hikes. It's probably best never to leave tobacco with him, lest we run afoul of some tobacco law somewhere. The pipe separates at the brass ring to change the filter.

What a cool little pipe! With no travel east in my plans, I:ll do my best to move him soon. Love the wood grain.

When I opened the cache this was in I could smell this TB. Reminded me of my uncle who smoked one when I was a kid. Good memories - he and my aunt first took me camping and turned me on to the outdoors. I'll find a cool place for this to go in honor of my Uncle John.

Just passing through on an evening run. Hopefully someone who appreciates pipes will come along soon.
