To travel about from cache to cache (except Paris!)
The "Excuse me, is this your ring?" scam may not be new, but I had three people in one day trying it on me in central Paris last month (Feb 07)
It works like this: someone walks near you on the pavement and appears to pick up a shiny gold ring off the ground and ask if you've dropped it. Of course you say no, but while you're looking at it they say they are in a rush and could you take it to the Police. They then say that as they are poor and homeless the Police will just persecute them for stealing it! Finally they ask you for money . . . . .
On the 3rd time when this happened I decided to 'buy' it for 5 euros as a souvenir so others could see how real the ring looks. It even has 18K as a authentic looking haul mark inside. It is of course a scam so watch out.
The 'gold' ring is of course attached to the TB so you can now see it for yourself.
Note:
If you have held onto me for more than 14 days, can you send my owner, Big Wolf an email, letting him know what your intentions are? I know I am desirable but I only like to be held onto for longer than this, if I am to be helped further along my journey. Thanks
