Captain Craig

Captain Craig is a Stomper Jeep. He has four wheel drive, high and low range and working headlights. He is named after Jeepinfool's friend, comrade anf jeepin' buddy Captain Craig Withers, U.S. Army. At the time of his release (Sept.04), the real Capt. Craig is serving in Iraq. Come home soon.

Well, I fixed him up as best as I could. Two wheels were off which allowed the axles to slide out. This meant that both ring gears were not attached. Got both gears back on and glued the wheels on. Next was to put the pinions back in. Lastly, I had to take another motor assembly from an older unit that I had for parts. The electrical contacts were all but gone and it was the easiest way. He is up and running again, how be it a little quirky. What can I say, he is a Jeep.
Hope to see Capt. Craig in a couple of weeks. I am going to give him a present!

  • Replacing ring gears
  • Pinions installed.
  • New motor assembly.

Actually Captain Craig was sent to me by Rob&Sue. I am going to retire him, fix him up a bit and give him to the real Captain Craig.

Hi we are Rob & Sue from Weymouth, Dorset on the south coast of the UK, we found Captain Craig while doing a bit of caching o our recent holiday in spain, didn,t rekon on finding this TB, its great to find TB that have been out thire for soon long. We like to check the other logs and view the maps and locals. Found in a area right on the beach in not realy jeeping county have tacken to UK and will drop at a good local soon. Not sure when your misson will be complete a bit over due I'd say. Jeep in need of some repair two wheels have come off, we will repair before moving on. We both hope the real Captain Craig came home safe, please inform us if you would. Great TB lots of mileage all the best Rob & Sue UK
