This travel bug contains the coordinates of the Thoreau Hitchhiker geocache. Only those that find this TB know these coordinates! There is a Thoreau Hitchhiker geocache web page but it contains dummy coordinates so you must find the TB to find the cache. This geocache is different than any other we have seen and has its origins in a similar "Letter Boxing" setup. With this geocache, no coordinates are given on the Internet. Instead, the coordinates are placed in an existing, host geocache (chosen arbitrarily) and then Hitchhike from one existing host geocache site to another, moved by the last person to find the Hitchhiker coordinates. Only those that are lucky enough to find an existing, host geocache with the Hitchhiker coordinates in the host cache box get to also find the Hitchhiker cache site! (which does not change position). The cache is in the New England area, so please don't move the TB too far from its actual cache coordinates.
This cache was originally put into place 4/1/2001 and has operated without a "Travel Bug" attached to the cache coordinate packet. I have attached a "Travel Bug" to the packet to make the logging of the TB easier and to be able to show the caches that the TB coordinate packet has visited.

Visited the Prospect Hill TB cache that I'd found in 2015 specifically to discover this TB as I need Thoreau Hitchhiker puzzle for the Oldest in Massachusetts challenge. Was surprised to see that the TB was sitting not inside the CC, but ... below it. Probably, someone has to move it to a CC where it can fit in.

Iecris and I were in Boston today and had come discover this traveler. It was off my radar for a bit and I got a notification of where it was placed. This is the first chance I had to come discover it.

Have been watching this for some time. Finally saw it dropped near somewhere I had an errand to run. Finally got the coords, and I'm guessing given the name it is near Walden pond where I worked one summer. Will be great to get back there sometime, however I'm not sure if I'll be able to electronically log it since I'm no longer premium.

Had my eye on this since it was in the Witch Tree cache last summer. Donata294 and I tried to grab it there, we were both not wearing long pants and there was too much PI in the area to risk it. So happy that we were able to retrieve it today from Hotel California, and move it up to Metrowest!

I've been following this and I do think it would be great if a future finder could bring it back close to Concord. I'm glad it's back in MA at least! It's such a great cache. The Witch Tree in Lincoln is about 2 miles from cache and big enough to hold this large trackable.
