Current Goal

To travel on the journeys I was meant to. I want to explore sites of aviation and space. I want to travel High, and I want to travel Fast! And I want the pictures to prove it!

About This Item

Me in my current form

I am Titan 34D(9), a fragment of an catastrophic failure of a large Air Force rocket that exploded during launch From Space Launch Complex 4 East at Vandenberg AFB on 18 April 1986. The exact details of my coming to being are still classified, but in a nutshell, I was launched, flew with over 1 million pounds of thrust for 9 seconds to an altitude of about 400 feet, and then violently exploded and burned while falling back to earth. I fully destroyed my launch pad but fortunately injured or killed no one. I was attempting to launch a KH-9 spy satellite into earth orbit but unfortunately fell far short. After the explosion, I lay exposed on the hillside about 1/4 mile from my launchpad for the next 15 years, watching as my fellow Titans roared off to the far reaches of space. Jealous I became, until one day I was found and given the opportunity to travel, not as originally intended, but satisfying nonetheless. In my travels I wish to experience the heights and speeds I long for. Take me by plane to far places, take me to mountaintops or tall buildings, take me fast along desert roads, but most of all take me someplace I wont lay for 15 years! Along the way I have a few goals I'd love to do:

Someday meet up with UH-1 Huey Helicopter travelbug TB1BE3, as I have a fondness for the Huey, having watched them fly by for 15 years and then being found by one of their pilots.

Travel to caches or places with a space or aviation theme or visit near launch places like Cape Canaveral, Wallops Island, Korou Fr. Guiana, Baikonur Kazakhstan, or even back to Vandenberg.

Go across the Atlantic and visit caches in England sometime in the year 2003 or 2004.

Thanks for helping me on my journey whether you take me 5 or 5000 miles!

An exciting find for a beginner. I am sending it towards Reno so it can hit the Highway 80 corridor which will help send it further west. I will drop it in a cache near Reno in the next few days.
