About This Item

Coin Pic

This CF Geocoin is dedicated to the memory of Pte David Robert James Byers. David (22) was killed in Afghanistan on 18 Sept 2007 by a suicide bomber along side 3 other brave Canadian soldiers that sad September day.

The Norherners, while visiting with Byers family at their home in Northern Ontario, thought it would be a suiting time to launch one of their new CF Geocoins with David's parents in his memory.

Please help David continue his journey by moving this coin from cache to cache, adding your photo's along the way when possible.

Thanks kindly.

I grabbed this one while in Port Hardy during a port visit with HMCS ORIOLE. The Pte Byers coin managed to hitchhike a ride in a Navy ship. So far it's been around Cape Scott, to Bamfield, Cape Scott, Esquimalt, and now Victoria. ORIOLE wil be in states for the next 2 weeks, so I won't move the coin there, as it states "to travel in Canada". I'll drop it in Port Alberni during our tall ships stop there. I'll get some pictures uploaded upon our return in Aug.

Will take the coin to Northern Vancouver Island soon. Beautifully crafted coin. We showed it to the kids, and talked about the sacrifice that this young man has made.
