MISSION #2: To visit any and all geocaches in the fine state of Arizona. See below for further details.
Original mission: Grand Canyon State would like to head to back to his owner's hometown of Phoenix, Arizona. If you can help move him south or west, please pick him up and give him a lift! COMPLETED 8/3/2003!
Grand Canyon State
UPDATE: On August 3, 2003, Grand Canyon State made the final leap across the Valley to the Land of Excess geocache, thus completing its original mission! Huge props go to
LVB, who gave it a big cross-country lift, and to
K & S Putters, who carried it the last few miles to its goal.
Grand Canyon State's
new goal is to visit as many geocaches as possible in its namesake state of Arizona.
If you encounter this travel bug in a geocache, and you plan to visit another Arizona cache in the near future, feel free to take it with you and drop it at your next stop. It doesn't matter whether you move Grand Canyon State down the block or across the state, as long as it keeps moving. As they say, a rolling stone gathers no moss.
Grand Canyon State is a keychain from Arizona, which is, well, the Grand Canyon state. I originally dropped him off at
Cagney's Foot Wash, the closest cache to where I live in Missouri, and I was interested to see how long it would take for him to make it back to his (and my) home state of Arizona. Grand Canyon State's original goal was to be placed in
Land of Excess, a microcache that's the closest cache to the place I grew up in Phoenix. I also recently released his cousin,
Prowling Tiger, who is travelling the same route in reverse. It'll be interesting to see which one makes it 'home' first, and whether their paths cross out there in the wilderness.
Just like all travel bugs, the fun is in the journey, not the destination. He's quite compact, and would probably even fit into most microcaches, so feel free to leave him in any cache others might visit. Grand Canyon State would love to visit some interesting places on the way, and have pictures posted for me and other finders of him to see. Thanks!
