Current Goal

The object of this keychain bug is quite simple: To visit the oldest active caches in each of the 10 provinces. I got the idea for this travel bug’s mission after finding Ken Kane’s Geocache, the oldest one in Canada.

About This Item

A sheet is attached to the bug with pretty simple and clear instructions. It has a table with the oldest caches, their GC#, and a town/city/park that they are near or in. There is also space for the cacher who placed it in that cache to mark their names and date it.  It may be that the oldest cache in the province becomes archived or disabled.  I will try to keep the chart on this page as up to date as possible, so that the oldest active cache is the one listed here.  Virtual caches are not included in this TBug's goal.

(I would have liked to make this into an actual chart, but the site will only accept 5000 characters in HTML.  So, this unaligned cheesy tab-space chart will have to do.)

(31 Aug 03) - The Geocaching.com site lists 3 Quebec caches as older than Kerry Cache#1.  However, 2 are disabled, and the 3rd is a virtual cache.  If the older ones become enabled again, I will amend this chart.  The chart attached to the TBug lists the "Meech Lake Pressure Cooker" cache as the oldest.  That cache has been archived.

(15 Jun 04) - After the Trailblazers has visited all of these caches, send it back towards Ontario and the Pembroke/Petawawa, where I will pick it up.

Many thanks, GPComd, for letting me, and others at the event, discover your collection of geocoins and travel bugs. Very impressive!!! Apologies for not getting around to logging them before my end of year cleanup of caching related activities, especially when you made it so easy with a listing of them, even those that have gone missing. I should take a lesson from that level of organization; heaven knows enough of mine are missing.

Guess I can say I 'discovered' this one at our local geocachers gathering, sort of in the hands of the owner. Hope that's OK.

Retrieve It from a Cache 8/15/2005 GPComd retrieved it from Charlottetown Memories Prince Edward Island, Canada   Visit Log

This TB managed to visit 5 of the oldest caches, before disappearing in 2004 in Charlottetown.

I was in denial for a year, and have accepted it's never coming back >.

Actually I had lost the tracking number for it, and couldn't retrieve it from the cache.

This one is now being placed into the TB graveyard.

So long, trailblazer...
