'so, why this Cache?' i ask Irie.
'Simple' he answer 'Virgilius, a native of Ireland, built a grand cathedral at Salzburg, baptized the Slavic dukes of Carinthia, and sent missionaries into lands where no missionary had yet gone.
He was elected abbot of the Benedictine abbey of St. Peter at Salzburg and bishop of the city about 765. Virgilius died November 27 in 784, in Salzbwg. He was canonized in 1232.'

  • virgilius.jpg Der hl. Abtbischof Virgil erbaute den ersten Dom und weihte ihn am 24. September 774. Größere Restaurationen erfolgten unter Erzbischof Hartwick (991-1023). Nach Zerstörungen in den Jahren 1127 und 1167 bauten ihn Konrad II. bzw. Konrad III. wieder auf. Dieser Dom wurde nach dem Brand 1598 völlig abgetragen. Der heutige Dom wurde nach Plänen von Santino Solari durch Erzbischof Markus Sittikus und Erzbischof Paris Lodron errichtet und den hll. Rupert und Virigl geweiht.

Ireland is supposed to be wet and green. Much the same as this place here 😉. The falling water sounds almost like the waves breaking on Ireland's shores.
