Discovered it!

Cleaning my computer and found a folder with a bunch of pictures from my trip to the 2014 HQ Block Party. I attended to participate in the GIFF that year and met tons of great people at the many events during that weekend. Sorry for the incredibly late log, but this was a pleasant surprise to find.

Thank you for sharing.

I returned home after a Cub Scout campout to log that I deposited Sully, but apparently, I can't log the deposit because it's already been found! I deposited him the Sandhill Crane geocache GC4JW56 in Moss Park on 3/12/2016. I found this geocache a year ago and recalled that it was the biggest geocache container that I had ever seen, and was in an easy location with a lot of geocacher activity (obviously).

Sully went camping with the Cub Scouts of pack 783 at Moss Park. Leaving him at Moss Park puts him a little closer back toward the Disney parks than had I left him somewhere near home. Moss Park is an Orange County park that is very popular for camping for both our family and our Cub Scout pack. It's not too far of a drive for us, but just far enough to feel like you've gone somewhere. Wildlife abounds in this park, and the individual camping sites are huge, and most are rather private. The facilities are some of the nicest I've experienced at any campground.

The park is just to the East of Orlando International Airport (MCO), so the folks coming to Disney are constantly flyover over Sully's location.

We live on the Space Coast of Florida, which includes Port Canaveral, the home of Disney Cruise Lines. So we took Sully by the port while one of the ships was in. We wish we could get closer, but in the post 9/11 world, this is the closest we could get without a ticket. It used to be that anyone could drive within throwing distance of the cruise ships, or go the water's edge across the basin, but those days are past.

Although I hated to perform surgery to Sully, I did put a small screw eye on his shoulder to help keep him attached to the travel bug.

The son and I have a Cub Scout camping trip at Disney's Fort Wilderness in May, so it would be ideal to take Sully to that, but I don't want to hold onto him for another 3-4 months. We'll decide on a suitable GC in the area in which to place him and let him get on his way.

  • Sully at Disney Cruise Terminal at Port Canaveral

We felt bad about leaving the original Sully in the box at Gold Head Branch State Park three hours away, so meet SULLY II! I think we managed to replace the original Sully with an exact replacement. We have an idea to do something Disney with him before we send him on the way. Then I will find some new ball chain, and try to put his tag on in a way that it won't easily separate from him.

  • Sully II We got a replacement Sully since the tag got separated from the original.
