MARG 1-02 & LF6F 1-02 Coin TB

My mission is to travel far and see much. Please keep me moving and reseach my symbols a little for the fun of it.

This coin was used in a little treasure hunt on the beach of Ocean City, NJ for nearby kids to enjoy. My son found two coins and I persuaded him (with a few toys) to make a travel bug using this coin. The symbols on this coin are interesting and I will provide some information about these symbols in case you're curious.

The MARG 1-02 (Amphibious Squadron EIGHT) Side:

Top Symbol - Amphibious Squadron EIGHT is one of four tactical amphibious squadrons in the Naval Surface Force, US Atlantic Fleet. The squadron consists of USS BATAAN (LHD 5), USS SHREVEPORT (LPD 12), USS WHIDBEY ISLAND (LSD 41) and the other Naval Support Element detachments.

Right Symbol - USS Whidbey Island (LSD-41) is a Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship of the United States Navy. She was named for Whidbey Island, in Puget Sound, Washington. The name derives from the sailor, explorer and engineer Joseph Whidbey. Ship Motto, "Intrepid Vanguard".

Bottom Symbol - USS Bataan (LHD-5) is a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship. LHD 5 is named to honor the heroic defense of the Bataan Peninsula on the western side of Manila Bay in the Philippines during the early days of World War II. Ship Motto, "Courage, Commitment, Honor".

Left Symbol - USS Shreveport (LPD-12) is an Austin-class American amphibious transport dock. Ship Motto, "No Shore Too Distant, Alone and Unafraid".

The LF6F 1-02 (Landing Force Sixth Fleet) Side:

Top Symbol - The 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (26th MEU) is one of seven Marine Expeditionary Units in the United States Marine Corps. The Marine Expeditionary Unit is a Marine Air-Ground Task Force. Motto, "A Certain Force in an Uncertain World".

Right Symbol - 3rd Battalion 6th Marines is an infantry battalion in the United States Marine Corps. Also known as "Teufel Hunden" or Devil Dogs.

Bottom Symbol - Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) is usually the first on scene when the Marines are sent in. MEU is America's small, unique, powerful force in readiness and is an expeditionary intervention force with the ability to rapidly organize for combat operations in virtually any environment.

Left Symbol - Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 365 (HMM-365) is a United States Marine Corps helicopter squadron consisting of CH-46E Sea Knight transport helicopters. The squadron, known as the "Blue Knights", provides assault support of combat troops, supplies, and equipment during amphibious operations and subsequent operations ashore.
