"Millennium is the world’s largest technology prize.

The prize celebrates innovations that have a favourable impact on quality of life and wellbeing. In particular, the prize seeks to highlight innovations that assist and enrich our everyday lives today as well as in the future.

The 2006 Millennium Technology Prize has been awarded to Professor Shuji Nakamura, the inventor of new revolutionary light sourced.

The inaugural one million euro Millennium Technology Prize was presented to Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the world wide web, in 2004."

Otin tämän TB:n mukaani Muhokselta. Netin ääressä sitten tutkailin sen tavoitetta tarkemmin.
Millennium-palkinnon voittajia on tähän mennessä kolme: englantilainen Berners-Lee, joka kehitti www:n, japanilainen Nakamura kehitti valkoisen LED-valon ja yhdysvaltalainen Langer on tehnyt innovaatioita lääkeaineiden annostelemiseksi ja keinokudosten kasvattamiseksi. Oletettavasti heidän työpaikkojaan ei löydy täältä Pohjois-Suomesta, joten tämä matkalainen täytyisi varmaan kuskata ulkomaille. Saattaa valitettavasti jäädä minulta väliin.
