Current Goal

"Soup Guy" wants to see the South Pole, or at the very least Antarctica. Make sure you take photos of him in exotic locales along the way (e.g. volcanoes, beaches, glaciers, etc.).  Any comments about toys from your youth and photographs of “Soup Guy” achieving his goals would be greatly appreciated.

About This Item

Soup Guy

Say hello to "Soup Guy”. He is a member of "Daddy's old toys".

Soup Guy is clearly an early American frontiersman. From his stance you can tell he had bad intentions on his mind for some unfortunate soul. But try explaining that to a two-year-old child. My oldest daughter loved to play with “Daddy’s old toys” when she was little. These toys largely consisted of plastic army men, Alamo soldiers, and Indians of every color in the rainbow. While she played with him (and several of his cohorts) in the bathtub one day I came up with this name. (I couldn’t actually tell her what his true intentions were, could I?) Thus it occurred to me that he needed a new career in life and since we had measuring cups that looked like cooking pots he became the guy that stirred the soup. (His musket makes a great ladle, don’t you think?) His friends – red, yellow, and orange Indians – became his fellow restaurant staff. So “Soup Guy”, “Bread Guy”, “Corn Guy” and the others got a new lease on play life.

I hope you enjoy the story behind “Soup Guy” and will help him along toward his destination. Again, any comments about toys from your youth and photographs of “Soup Guy” achieving his goals would be greatly appreciated.

Soup Guy joined us for a spectacular day at Crater Lake. We took the boat tour around the lake and drove around the rim. On the way back to our camp site we stopped at Union Creek for some ice cream and found a new home for Soup Guy. Good luck on your future travels Soupy!😁

While performing maintenance on my cache GC1GHV5 Salt Lick Travel Bug Hotel #1, I discovered that this travel bug is no longer here. Hopefully the person that took the Soup Guy (Travel Bug Dog Tag) finds it so it may continue on its journey.
