About This Item

Ok, so here's the deal. A while back, I had this great idea. Why not place a cache, but then require the searcher to find a travel bug in order to find it? So I created a cache, and I called it Scott's Second Cache, seeing as my name is Scott, and this was my second cache. Then I created two travel bugs, Wheelie #1 and Wheelie #2. Each one had one of the coordinates written on it. I placed the cache and released the bugs, and sat back to watch.

And it worked, for a couple of months. Everyone told me what a cool cache I had made. I felt, oh, so clever. But then tradgedy struck. In mid-November 2003, someone took Wheelie #2, and disappeared. Around that same time, Wheelie #1 surfaced in Alameda, 50 miles from the cache. And then, sometime in January 2004, the cache itself was washed away by a swollen creek.

But now, like a pheonix, rising from the ashes, I have placed a new cache, Scott's 2.5. To find it requires only one travel bug. And I placed it a bit higher up the hill, so the creek can't touch it.

Still, the Wheelies are floating around out there, like ships with out sails, remnants of days gone by. Pass them around if you like, or don't; it doesn't matter anymore.

Incidentally, you can get very close to Scott's 2.5. Just follow the one coordinate you have, and see where it interesects water.

I've already found Scott 2.5, but that one might have washed away as well due to the prolonged rain season this year. I see that this Bug has the classic Marky & Joani mission tag.
