Reunite with my husband Karl-Oskar and in the process of doing so:
Travel from cache to cache and find new friends and pick up stories from other emigrants with a connection to Sweden. So all you Johansson's and Eriksson's out there, tell us your story please!
And finally, when the times are better and I'm very homesick, I would like to go home. But until then, please let me stay in America!
Oh - and one more thing, we have had our share of bad things happening to us already, lets not add kidnapped by ruthless geocoin collector to that list. Please.
Karl-Oskar and Kristina are married and tried to make a living in Sweden. However, the small size of their land, the infertile soil, and some bad harvests made it tough. Thus, they decided to emigrate to America, the promised land.
The journey was long and tedious and when they finally reached their new land they got separated. Their new life could have had a better start.

A personal note from the coin owner reminded me that I never supplied the information I promised back in December.
My great-grandfather's name was Frederick Ferdinand Fredsall. He was born January 19, 1852 in Vetlanda, Sweden.
He married Clara Augusta Rundbon who was born on December 25, 1848 in Hultsjo,, Sweden. They immigrated to New Hartford, Connecticut bringing their belongings in a trunk lined with school papers. The trunk is an important part of my parent's home.
Frederick was the son of Sven Magnus Larsson Krok Fredsall of Nasby, Vetlanda and Eva Maria Hakansdotter of Skede.
Thanks for reviving my interest in the Swedish roots!

Sad to say I have no connection to Sweden other than reading and really enjoying "The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo"!
I will move this on so someone else can add their stories!
Thanks for the coin.

I am of Swedish roots. My parents have the trunk my great grandfather used to move his belongings to America. The trunk is lined with school papers from Sweden. I will add to this when I have time to look up some names and dates.
