About This Item

AMTG Hampton Roads Gold GC 1

Mid size coin with heft. 2 inches by 0.9 inch 3.5 mm thick gold.  Availavle in other metal colors. Unusual coin in the shapeof the state of Virginia. The front of this coin has lots of enamel work. The nice 3-D work is evident in the edge and rim work. The edge and rim work is more pronounced than the silver LE edition.  The medallion has a compass rose and script that reads "Our World Our Playground". The script that also reads "Geocaching Hampton Roads". The reverse has excellent 3-D and background metal texture. It shows a ship under full sail and a cardinal bird. The medallion has commercial design with commercial colors. The rim work is bold and crisp. The script reads "Many Cities, One Community". This is coin number 342 in a limited run. Very nice state team coin.

Info on the coin:  Hampton Roads is the name given the body of water at the confluence of the James River, Elizabeth River, and Chesapeake Bay in Southeastern Virginia. The seven cities of the region are Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Hampton, and Newport News.

The coin is shaped like the state of Virginia with the group logo on the front. Geocaching-Hampton Roads across the bottom, and X over the Hampton Roads area and "Our World, Our Playground around a compass. On the back is the geocaching.com logo and tracking number with a masted sailing ship representing the first English settlements in the New World, a cardinal the state bird and the words "Many Cities, One Community". These words truely describe the Hampton Roads area geocachers.

So many of my trackables have been muggled that I only release my GCs as virtuals. If you do not approve of , please leave it in the cache for a cacher who understands. Thanks. GL
