About This Item

Hot Sauce

Tired of Tabasco? Try Cholula, our favorite hot sauce. It's got plenty of kick with an abundance of flavor...something most hot sauces lack.

Cholula hot sauce is a commercial brand of chili-based hot sauce, manufactured in Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico. Its large round wooden cap makes its packaging unique among commercially-prepared hot sauces.

Cholula sauce blends pequin peppers, red peppers and spices. It is named after the 2,500-year-old city of Cholula, Puebla, the oldest still-inhabited city in Mexico, famous for its disproportionate number of churches (local legend says 365, but the actual figure is closer to 40). The name "Cholula" is derived from the Nahuatl toponym Chollollan, meaning "the place of the retreat."

It is often used as an accompaniment to burgers and egg dishes.

Picked up in San Marcos while visiting, will place in a cache in Galveston, TX near the cruise ship docks where several boats leave daily for numerous ports in Mexico, and where I know a lot of folks try to squeeze in a few local caches before shipping out on vacation! Hopefully this will get it closer to home!

Found this on New Year's Day in Landa Park in New Braunfels, TX in a place called Panther Canyon. It was in the Panther Canyon Cache (GCG3KZ). I had to grab it from Oilman as his drop off hasn't been logged yet. I moved it back north about 10 miles, but am going to place it near IH 35 so it can get on its way to Mexico. I think Cholula is a good hot sauce - a bit spicier than Tobasco. Ramona de Peste

Tired of Tobasco, nooo. I will either leave this tb in El Paso, or take him back to New Orleans ( where Tobasco is king )
