Brought it to this Cache which although is not inherently Celtic is fascinating all the same, but because it is currently disabled I retrieved it after. I will drop it when I visit another Celtic spot.
This Cache is a great one though, but the weather was foul so I have uploaded some pictures from a previous visit.
I believe Guernsey has a Celtic history and I have copied this from a bbc web page;
"Sampson was born in about 485 and trained as a priest in Guernsey.
After travelling as a missionary, he returned to island in 520 and "is said to have been disgusted with the various fertility rites which were still being observed and to have the made little progress against the prevailing paganism." (The Town Church of St Peter Port by R.I. Carré, P.10).
However it is suggested that he was more successful on his next visit, when he set up a monastery. St Sampson's Church is thought to be the oldest church in Guernsey, dating back to 550 and if this is true, it was the beginning of the Celtic Church in Guernsey. During the 10th Century Norman rule and the Roman Catholic Church were in complete control in the Islands and gradually the influence of the Celtic Church disappeared."
