On the night of March 17, 2005, JoelD and I did the Greene Gorge Cache (GCBCE8). Inside, I found a half-inch line brass water shut-off valve. Joel laughed and said that he spotted this very same valve in State Gamelands #109, the very first cache he ever did (GC184, he found on September 30, 2001).

I took it, deciding to unlock the mystery of this valve. For three and a half years, it has toured this area. Reading logs, I tracked down where it's been:

  1. May 4, 2001: placed in State Gamelands #109 by Slide
  2. November 18, 2001: removed from State Gamelands #109 by Noah's Dad
  3. November 18, 2001: placed in "Cache In the Marsh" by Noah's Dad
  4. April 29, 2004: jrz126 removed from "Cache In The Marsh"
  5. May 26, 2004: placed in Greene Gorge Cache by jrz126
  6. March 17, 2005: Found in Green Gorge Cache

  • This little valve has survived out there for many years, so I figured it would make a hardy travel bug. Where else will it go????

    At the beginning of the year, it's time to clean up the picture folder on my cell phone and finally log all the TBs and coins that I came across on my cache tours or while researching online. A number of photos have accumulated over the last few months. Whether seen in log entries, discovered at events or in collections, found stuck in cache containers or photographed on cache mobiles.     It was time to mark this one as missing as it's been taken from our cache "Offa to a good start" but has not been logged out correctly. It's definitely not in the cache. I hope it turns up again somewhere.

    What a whopper, and now we have to take it with us tomorrow as we finish the Heart of England way at Milford. Seems like it had been sitting here a longish time and next weekend we're over in France, so might find somewhere for it with a foreign water supply!
