BWareTheBear's first goal was to visit each of the EISCAT radar sites (near Tromsø, Norway, Kiruna, Sweden, and Sodankylä, Finland) before returning to his home near Longyearbyen, Svalbard.
The EISCAT radar sites are:
Tromsø: 69°35'11" N, 19°13'38" E, Norway
(nearest regular cache GCP2EA, Gordon's Mistake, at the radar site),
Kiruna: 67°51'38'' N, 20°26'07'' E, Sweden
(nearest regular cache GCQ9KD, Message Received, at the radar site),
Sodankylä: 67°21'49'' N, 26°37'37'' E, Finland
(nearest regular cache GCRW05, Watch this space, at the radar site),
and
Longyearbyen: 78°09'11'' N, 16°01'44'' E, Svalbard
(nearest regular cache GCNDBQ, Too Parabolic, which is also at the radar site).
Having completed that task, he's travelling around with TVE and dropping into a cache now and again to pick up some miles.
BWareTheBear is a little polar bear from Svalbard.
On the Svalbard archipelago, the polar bear is the King of the Arctic; there are more bears than people, and they are dangerous. However, in spite of his name, this little fellow is very friendly, so please help him along in his mission.
BWareTheBear's home used to be at the EISCAT Svalbard Radar, one of the World's leading ionospheric research radars, which is located just outside Longyearbyen. There's lots of information about this radar, and pointers to others like it around the World, at http://www.eiscat.se. These days, both BWareTheBear and owner TVE enjoy the much warmer environments of California and Florida while working with more and bigger radars.
