Here is my story:

The years 2007/2008 had a lot of bad news. A close friend of my daughter died of blood cancer after three long and promising chemotherapies. A friend of mine in the mid-twenties was diagnosed to have a huge brain tumor - expected remaining lifetime 11 months. A very close relative got cancer - expected remaining lifetime 3-12 months. A woman with 4 little children in our local church got breast cancer. Four operations so far, several times chemotherapy - we all pray that she can beat the cancer.
This was the time I got this coin, which has the shape of a skull, the head of a formerly living human, which is now dead.

Update 2009/2010: My friend with the brain tumor had several operations and is still ill. My relative died a few weeks after this coin was released in April 2008. The woman and mother of 4 children is healed.

We all know that life on this earth may end unexpectedly at any time. So what was before and what will be thereafter?

Dying is a transition from one world into another. When an embryo leaves the womb-world, it enters a new world as a baby. When a caterpillar leaves the cocoon, it enters a new world as a butterfly. The same with every human. When we leave this world, we will enter a new world of immortality, also called eternity.

The parable says, that your place in eternity will be according to the state of your heart in this world. Our transition will be into heaven or into hell. On which criteria? Here another story: «(25) On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. Teacher, he asked, what must I do to inherit eternal life? (26) What is written in the Law? he replied. How do you read it? (27) He answered: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbour as yourself.' (28) You have answered correctly, Jesus replied. Do this and you will live.» [Luke 10, NIV]

The problem of the rich man in the story before has not been his riches. If he had loved God with all his heart, his neighbour and himself, he would be in heaven now.
