To travel Australia and the world spreading the spirit of Australia.
You can share the spirit of Australia. Post your photos holding or wearing this pendant.
In 1915 Australian and New Zealand troops formed part of an allied expedition. They set out to capture the Gallipoli
peninsular to open the way to the Black Sea for the allied navies. They landed at dawn on 25 April, meeting fierce resistance from the Turkish defenders. What had been planned as a quick, bold stroke to knock Turkey out of the war quickly became a stalemate. The campaign dragged on until the allied forces were evacuated in December of that year, after both sides had suffered heavy casualties and endured great hardships.
The ANZAC legend remains central to the image of
Australians. The legend developed not from any grand strategic achievements, but rather from the manner in which the troops took to their task. They faced little chance of success, a forbidding terrain and a committed opposition. Short of provisions and living in the most appalling conditions, the troops displayed phenomenal endurance, dedication and courage in standing up for what they believed to be right.
On the 25th of April 1915, the spirit of a nation was born. The "diggers", as they came to be known, came to symbolise the qualities that Australians value, and that have become known as "The Anzac Spirit". These are the qualities that have been adopted by people throughout the nation as defining the Australian character. They have been demonstrated many times throughout Australia's short history, especially in times of crisis and hardship.

Thought I showed a little of the "Aussie Spirit" in my trials and tribulations with "Taking The Measure Of Kalamunda" so I thought this might be the appropriate time to drop off "Aussie Spirit #1".
