About This Item

Ganesh

I bought Ganesh on a trip to Bali. Ganesh is the Hindu god of knowledge and the remover of obstacles. It's traditional to give him salutations prior to a journey, so he's perfect as a travel bug.

Since this one hasn't moved in the four years it's been up here, I decided I'd come out here and move it for my sister-in-law, ForestNymf, so that she wouldn't have to do it herself. Yomikester and I are on our way up to Mammoth now, so I'll drop it up there.

Re-visited Elephant Walk while on my way to Mammoth to check on Ganesh. Cache is in great condition and Ganesh looks good, so I left him for another to claim. Hopefully, he will move along on his journey before the snow begins to fall this year.

Happy Caching,

ForestNymf

Grab It (Not from a Cache) 6/30/2014 ForestNymf grabbed it   Visit Log

Found Ganesh about 9:30pm last night (6/29/14) in the dirt very close to where the cache - Black Cap (REVISED) - was located (Fullerton, CA). Found only the top (cap) part of the cache with no container attached. Log was in the dirt also.
I believe I was meant to find Ganesh. After doing a Wiki search on him, I found that "Ganesh is widely revered as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences and the deva of intellect and wisdom". I've been suffering from the worst writer's block on a paper that I am currently working on. I held the little Hindu deity on my forehead for a minute or so hoping to clear whatever is blocking my creative flow. Will probably take him up to the White Mountains, near Bishop, CA. At the end of July, I have a camping/hiking trip planned up there near where the Ancient Bristlecone Pine forest resides. Some of those trees are close to 5,000 yrs. old. Since this is an ancient deity, I figure it will be a good spot for him to visit. Will post when I drop Ganesh at his next destination.
