Mid to large size coin with heft. 1.6 inches 3 mm thick gold. Available in other metal colors. The front of this coin design mimics a mosaic artwork. The metal color, itself is part of the overall design of a sum with rays against a white enamel background. The reverse has lot of shine and slight use of enamel. The "mosaic" theme is continued in bits of mosaic "chips" in commercial enamel colors and white, even to the point of the commercial logo (which is in slightly different colors). The 3-D is in in relief script and says "Geocoinfest multi-event A mosaic of events October 6th 2007". The enamel on this side ranges from matte to translucent. This version was for the North Carolina event. A very nice event coin.
Info on the coin: The first "Geocoinfest Multi Event Geocoin". A total of 1554 geocoins were minted by Landsharkz. The 42 x 3 mm mosaic coin is embossed in polished gold with translucent colors and really shines! In the middle of the front is the golden sun with eyes, mouth and 10 golden-brown rays, all in a mosaic pattern, surrounded by a narrow, dark blue mosaic edge.
The back contains the information about the type of event, the location, the date and everything is also designed like a mosaic to visually illustrate the idea of "A MOSAIC OF EVENTS". For each coin there was a 28 mm silver pin with the same sun front design. In addition to the normal gold edition, there was also a limited "THANK YOU" black nickel edition of unknown quantities for the event organizers.
There were 24 event location coins and a black nickel coin for volunteers.
So many of my trackables have been muggled that I only release new GCs as virtuals. If you do not approve, please leave it in the cache for a cacher who understands. Thanks. BR
