About This Item

Groundspeak Volunteer Geocoin 2008

This geocoin was a gift to Chuck Walla from Groundspeak for Chuck’s volunteer services as a geocache reviewer for Geocaching.com. In turn, Chuck decided to donate the coin to the "Clarksville or Cacheville, You Be The Judge 2008" event (GC18V86) as a door prize, to thank the geocachers of Arkansas for their contributions to the growth and success of this game, as cache hiders and seekers.

Retrieve It from a Cache 10/25/2008 AR-HICK retrieved it from 2nd Annual Conway County Geocaching Event Arkansas   Visit Log

I loved it!
I really had a great time and I am so glad that everyone enjoyed themselves. We have a good group of cachers in Conway County and I am proud to be one of them. The day started off a little strange, but it just got better. If you were there you know what I am talking about, if not I am sure that you will hear about it very soon.

As always it was good to visit with everyone and to receive that “Soap Box” from Cachemates, that made my day. Good times and fond memories are the best part of caching and today was a perfect example of that. I would like to thank all the cachers who donated to the event and the sponsors who also helped out. Had a lot of fun today and was sorry when it was over.
Thanks for making such great memories and a wonderful day, it would not have happened without you.
Ar-Hick

Surprise of the day was the DvG it sure would have been nice to meet you and I might have gotten you on that “Soap Box”

As with ORR I did not have too much trouble finding the cache and I took one of the wooden coins as a momento. This was the start the start of a fun weekend of touring Arkansas, I also got to see many acres of cotton in the feild and being harvested boy how have times changed.
The Cotton Gin was really neat, I had to check it out and take the tour around. I have never been inside of a gin and this was a great experience for me. I was amazed by what I saw and may have to make another look around later.
Thanks for the cache and bringing me to this great location and showing me a little of the past.

Retrieve It from a Cache 10/12/2008 AR-HICK retrieved it from Jenkins' Ferry ParkCache Arkansas   Visit Log

This was my last cache of the weekend. Sorry it has take me so long to finally log them all. I have reall enjoyed everything about this trip. Visiting the many historical places that I would not have done if it had not been for this challenge.
I have seen cotton fields, rivers and beautiful lakes and sleeping under the stars on a wonderful night.
This cache was not a big problem for me and I spotted it rather quickly and it was a good thing cause it is getting dark and my gas tank is getting low. Time to turn the wagon for the house and throw a little more of the $3.00 at hay at them.
Thanks for a great weekend a making memories.

After wondering around for a while I spotted it. I think hikerron hide it extra good cause he knew I was coming to find it. LOL
Very interesting place and great story of the Civil War in Arkansas. If you get a chance check out the nearby virtual cache it is well worth it.
Thanks for the cache and bringing me here to learn a little more about the part Arkansas was involved in the War.

History abounds at some of this fine parks. I was wondering about the name of this park and when I found the cache I understand how this place got its name.
It is nice to answer questions along the way and this place is full of questions and answers. I would like to wonce again thank everyone who has made the state parks what they are today, FANTATASIC.
