Current Goal

Original (revised) goal achieved. NEW GOAL: To reach LPS001, the oldest cache in Tennessee [GC132], so my geo-friend steph&herboys can retrieve it.

I have a TB called Steer Me In The Right Direction that I originally launched with a goal of reaching my cache in Ireland. That TB traveled the world, but seems to be stuck in England. This TB magically showed up in Northern Ireland without any particular goal, so I changed the goal in hopes of having it reach Ollamh [GC1QZKB]. On September 27, 2012, it did and my good friend and mentor (the true Ollamh) retrieved it for me. I retook possession on August 5, 2013.

About This Item

If you have a particularly interesting (somewhat dangerous) caching experience, please share it when you log this trackable.

This key ring was retrieved from the Johnny Appleseed Canal Lock [GCXTPW] just outside Nelsonville, Ohio. I enjoy turning interesting key rings from caches into travel bugs. My story, the inspiration for this travel bug, is as follows. I came to possess the key ring when I dropped another travel bug (The Brass Key Travel Bug) that I found at OC Comienza [GCYWE0]. OC Comienza is a canal lock very similar to the one where I retrieved the starter key ring for this travel bug. After verifying the coordinates for OC Comienza and finding the designated location, I started checking possible spots for a cache. Following several failed attempts, I reached the end of the lock. Aha! A piece of wood placed between an opening in the blocks surely hid the cache. I started to reach in when I spotted a small copperhead snake. It quickly slithered away, but served as a reminder to be careful before poking a hand into a hiding spot. You never know what might be lurking -- good or bad -- inside those nooks and crannies!
