Current Goal

Soggy Bottom Boys is one of the members of the Frog Quad. He has three brothers or sisters who are highly competitive. It's a race among all four members of the Frog Quad to see who can get to somewhere tropical and travel the farthest over the next few months. (Competition ends on Frog Day, the first Friday in October).
Although this contest is amongst his family, the gloves are off! Soggy Bottom Boys will be the victor. By any means necessary he will travel the farthest. On a hand cart by rail, borrowing or commandeering a car, maybe even floating down the river on the roof of a cotton house. He likes to travel with you, please take pictures of his journey and sites seen. With your help and perseverance Soggy Bottom Boys will hop to victory. Please help him seek the treasure before the Frog Quad has to R-U-N-N-O-F-T.

About This Item

Dendrobates leucomelas

Soggy Bottom Boys was "turned into a toad"… well not actually a toad at all. More accurately a Yellow and Black Banded Poison Dart Frog (Dendrobates leucomelas). He blends in well with the turning leaves and colorful fungi found in the rain forest. I bet you'd have a tough time spotting him on a school bus or bumble bee convention. He likes to sing old timey music and if you get the chance his favorite songs are "Man of Constant Sorrow" and "You are My Sunshine" –O Brother, Where Art Thou? Soundtrack Good Luck hunting him down. But don't dilly dally too long. Keep moving him on.
