Race is over - new goal: return home to Berlin/Germany!
About me:
I was a contestant in the
2nd Annual Great TB Race which took place from January 1st until December 31st, 2010. After a slow start, I was speeding up around race half-time and moved up to a very good 8th position by November. Unfortunately I was then stuck in a cache for two months until the race was over, so in the end I was overtaken and pushed out of the top 10 and
finished 11th, missing just 8 points for 10th place.
Still a very good result though, particularly given that I was hanging around places 80-90 for the first few months of the race...!

About Ampelmännchen:
Ampelmännchen ("traffic light man") is the symbolic person shown on traffic lights at pedestrian crossings in the former German Democratic Republic (GDR / East Germany) prior to the German reunification in 1990.
The Ampelmännchen is a beloved symbol in Eastern Germany, enjoying the privileged status of being one of the few features of communist East Germany to have survived the end of the Iron Curtain with his popularity unscathed. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Ampelmännchen acquired cult status and became a popular tourist souvenir.
About the race:
The race included some fixed goals and changing monthly goals to collect points. Points were awarded for distance, state/country lines crossed, pictures taken, specific caches visited, events attended and many other things.
