Cher Ami is currently taking part in a homing pigeon race from the UK back to South Africa.
Pride is at stake!!
This TB has been born, bred and trained to take part is this "Homing Pigeon" race. As with all racing pigeons, they first look the same and are required to race home, but they have to visit another continent. All TB's must arrive in a cache owned by the owner of the TB to be able to finish the race.
The choice of continents are Asia, Oceania, North America and South America.

About Cher Ami
Cher Ami is one of the most famous war heroes of World War I. This pigeon saved the lives of 200 surrounded men that were being bombarded by their own side with the short message. "We are along the road parallel to 276.4.
Our own artillery is dropping a barrage directly on us.
For heaven's sake, stop it." He made the 25 mile trip in 25 minutes.
We hope that this old one legged bird who holds the Croix de guerr, may once again fly true and win the race back to South Africa.
