About This Item

Minnesota State Parks
Geocaching History Challenge

In 2008 the state of Minnesota turned 150 years old! And in honor of this anniversary the Minnesota State Parks has organized a statewide Geocaching History Challenge. With 72 state parks there is plenty to keep you busy hunting for caches and moving travel bugs across the state, not to mention the great hikes, photo-worthy views and untouched landscapes you can find along the way to each cache.

Each of Minnesota’s 72 state parks has a special Geocaching History Challenge cache. Inside each cache are collectable park history trading cards and, if you’re lucky, a Minnesota Sesquicentennial medallion.

You can even earn a special silver medallion when you locate all of the state park caches in a region. A total of four regional medallions can be earned.

For those true geocachers who find all 72 Minnesota State Park caches – they can earn a really special gold medallion!

For more information on the Minnesota State Park Geocaching History Challenge visit www.mnstateparks.info.

The Minnesota State Park Geocaching History Challenge will run through December 31, 2008 – so start geocaching!!

I was just at the GC where this is meant to be... And it's not there. I've no idea who took it, but I hope they log it soon.

Didn't see this in the cache & didn't see any logs which noted a TB was taken since this was placed in the Bear Head Lake SP Avian cache.

Well the history challenge is shall we say...history. Now the wildlife challenge has gone the same way. I will move it along its desired destiny to a State Park up in NE MN when I go to grab a bird card.

It is fun to continue this travel bug's tradition and goal of visiting all the Minnesota state parks.

What state park will this travel bug visit next? Will it be:

o One of the parks it's not ever visited?
Glendalough
Kilen Woods
Maplewood
Split Rock Creek

o One of the parks it's visited but not ever via an official log of its visit on geocaching.com (as Dropped Off or Retrieved From)?
Big Stone Lake
Garden Island
Hayes Lake
Lake Bronson
Myre Big Island

o One of the other MN state parks it's already visited at least once?
