Current Goal

Mr. McCaw is my pet crow, and I've sent him off to find bird sanctuaries across the country. You needn't worry about him eating other birds' eggs because Mr. McCaw is a strict vegetarian (well, except for those noodles...he has a particular passion for pasta. Don't you? I certainly do!)

I'd ask a favor of anyone who helps Mr. McCaw during his flight. Would you please post pictures of birds to his log, especially the less common ones? Images from bird sanctuaries would also be very welcome.

Mr. McCaw would appreciate layovers near Belmont NY, Seabrook NH, St. Charles IL and Grand Forks ND if possible. Thanks!

Mr. McCaw has come home to roost! And thank you to everyone who helped him on his journey. He never reached North Dakota or Illinois, but he is one Very Well-Travelled Bird.

Within the United States, he visited caches in Washington, California, Colorado, Indiana, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and Florida, but his international journey was even more amazing. He made stops in Belize, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Russia, Czechoslovakia, the Netherlands and Greece! It took him 14 years to complete his migratory route and saw many wonderful bird species on his way. Now he's ready to retire to a Perch of Honor, home at last.

  • Mr. McCaw's Amazing Flight He flew for 14 years before coming home to roost at last. That's a l-o-o-o-o-ng migration!

He's flying home with a magazine about growing currants that Hoppingcrow would like to read!

Mr. McCaw is perched safely here in Allegany Co. I expect he'll tire of our area pretty soon.
Perhaps he'll be flying back to his home roost. He's been on the wing a long time.

Had fun at Bob's Clam Hut. Even got to sample the fried clams! NOM!
Now it's time to move on.

  • Mr McCaw tests Bob's fried clams - and approves!
  • Mr McCaw visits Bob's Clam Hut Mr McCaw was spotted today at the "Come Meet the OBW(?)s (It's been two years!)" event!

OBW(?) stands for Older But Wiser & we use the "?" because we aren't sure about the "wiser" part. We are goecachers over 60 who like to meet/greet/eat and/or cache together whenever a few can get together.

You don't have to be 60+ to attend this event - all are welcome
  • Mr McCaw meets Crystal the Snowy Owl Yes, that's a Gilligan's Island mural painted on the wall!
This restaurant was also featured in an episode of Guy Fiere's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives!
  • Mr McCaw meets SiegiGeo

What a joy to be able to retrieve Mr. McCaw from my very own event for my good friend Hoppingcrow! He has been traveling since 2005!

Triple-thanks to rjb43nh for delivering him in person to me this morning! And that was so cool of you to bring him to the Audubon Sanctuary in Auburn, NH and also to the Alex Higgins Memorial Osprey Blind at Massabesic Lake in Manchester, NH!

I will give Mr. McCaw a nice tour of Seabrook, NH and my favorite wildlife refuge before sending him off to our sister-of-the-heart ATMouse in Belmont, NY so she can log him, too, before he flies home. Thanks again rjb43nh for helping this to happen!
