Hello again, old friend. It has been almost 12 years since Ronnie joined me on my first ever trip to British Columbia where he was party to what might have been might first significant geocache outing (31 caches in day seems modest by today's standards but it was definitely more than I'd done previously).
Before logging, I'd gone on a bit of a trip down memory lane to see where it all started.
It looks like I picked Ronnie up for the first time on 3rd October 2009 with a log that I can only apologise for... I can remember caching on Cleeve Hill that day and am pretty sure that we didn't have a GPS or, if we did, we weren't good at using it. I definitely remember attempting to solve/find a multi by checking ordnance survey maps that had been printed out on green paper and "averaging" the location between two other caches to find the final - and we did!
A couple of weeks later, Ronnie had joined me on a flight across the Atlantic to Vancouver where we headed out for a full day of caching with some friends. We then headed out to Ontario where we enjoyed some walks in the lovely autumn colours of Huntsville.
After that long journey. I was only too pleased to drop Ronnie home in Trowbridge just before Christmas 2009.
Sad Ronnie is irretrievably linked into our caching history so it was truly something special to bump into him again today. I'm glad he's settled down with Olympia and is living the quiet life - he's had quite enough adventure for such a small dog! Hopefully we'll cross paths again in the future. Safe travels Ronnie!
