To give luck for those who discover it in the Salamander Swimming Hole cache.
The Girona was a Spanish galleon sunk near Dunluce Castle laden with treasure. The Salamander was said to be a good luck charm that would keep whoever wore it safe from dying by fire. So the crew drowned. Their mistake was that they tried to keep the Salamander. It will only pass on its good luck if you leave it with its Salamander friends and discover it there.

What a wonderful geocoin. I have only come across one before like it and was happy to discover another one today while visiting the salamanders with its owner. Thanks for sharing![white]

I agree with Geojammers that this coin should stay in the Salamander Swimming Hole for people to discover, but not to take. If the next person who comes across it could leave a note with the coin, asking that it remain in the present cache, I would appreciate it.

As I mentioned in my log for "In Salamander's Swimming Hole", I just couldn't take this coin out of this cache because it seems as if it belongs here. Very nice coin and it sits here in a perfect cache.

After grabbing this wonderful new coin last week I felt that it should visit some of it's relatives at one of my new caches. Today we saw at least 6 of them that are 8" long, last year I saw one that may have been their 2' Mother. Hope that my "luck" changes for the better now.

Pulled this beautiful "lucky" GC from a new cache & then nearly did a head plant after running about 200' back up the trail to Carson Falls. Realized I'd dated my entry April & I went back to make the correction. Perhaps this thing is powerful.
