I found a California Grizzly way too far from home. This was my first cache so I am very proud to find a little piece of home. I am a native to Northern California and will take good care of it in my travels. I have a few months to go before I start my return but I will keep it close to heart and will get it back on the track to bear country.
I have encountered a Grizzly but none so nice as this one. During my honeymoon, my wife and I traveled to Yellowstone and Glacier N.P. In both parks we found ourselves close to the natives of the area...one time in particular I discovered myself far to close. Fishing on the Slough during a Drake hatching I became immersed in casting and catching countless trout on my fly-rod. It was getting dark I decided to turn around and begin my hike back to camp. As I was exiting the water a loud crash came from the tree-line and in front of me at 70 meters were 2 grizzly cubs now playing in the meadow. I thought I would wait the cubs play out, but mom showed up. Lets just say I made a very quiet exit from the creek and ended up taking the long way back, leaving my fish behind.
