To raise awareness of the needs of hearing impaired children.
Federation of Parents and Friends of hearing-disabled was established in 1990 the needs of parents of hearing impaired children to help each other in the upbringing of their children. This coin is part of a charity effort to raise funds and awareness.
This copper geocoin was a present from my Daughter in Law
( well as of this date still "future", but with a few weeks to go )
she purchased while in the Czech Republic on a trip for her masters degree.
As I understand the story, knowing my love of geocoins, she did the research to find out about this coin in the country she was to visit, and then found the shop or the headquarters of the FRPSP, the charity for which the coin was made. Once there she and the shop owner, both using broken versions of each others language, and yes sign language and gesturew, were able to communicate enough to get across what she wanted. What a great story, and great cause. She also got a pin, a magnet and a geocaching pen
as well... W00T.
